Welcome to another wonderful school year!
I have completed my year long teacher certification through Mindful Schools, and this year at Trillium Charter I am excited to be offering mindfulness classes to the grades TK-5th. We will meet every Friday, for twenty minutes to work on our practice.
We will have a focused lesson each week, and some examples are :
Mindful Bodies, Mindful Listening, Mindful Breathing, Heartfulness & Compassion: Sending Kind Thoughts, Body Awareness -Spotlight on the Breath, Gratitude and Generosity, and Mindful Walking. I will also incorporate movement and art into our classes.
I am excited to share these tools with our school community, to help our students fend off negative thoughts and behaviors, build self-confidence, focus, and treat others and themselves with respect and appreciation. A Mindfulness practice is a gift they will have for the rest of their lives. ~ Alyson Lescht
Mindfulness is noticing what is happening in the present moment.
Mindfulness is taking notice of how your body feels and what you see, smell and taste.
Mindfulness is also noticing what your mind is doing.
